State secretary: Government contributes bus fleet to Budapest public transport modernisation
The central government has contributed 64 eco buses to help Budapest modernise its public transport bus fleet, the Prime Minister’s Office state secretary for Budapest developments said on Saturday.
The air-conditioned buses supported with a 3.2 billion forint state grant were all put in service in the city, Balázs Fürjes said on Facebook.
He announced on October 27 that the central government had contributed to the purchase of a fleet of low-floor, AC Mercedes-Benz Conecto G articulated buses for Budapest.
Fürjes also said on Saturday that the central government has allocated another 12 billion forints towards the continued modernisation of Budapest’s public transport and a further 200 billion forints (EUR 559m) for the upgrade of the city’s 3rd metro line.

Thank goodness that Hungary’s Government – led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban – is determined to modernise the public transport system within Budapest.
It is obvious that Budapest’s ‘sausage council’ is unable to act – or the decisions it makes are continually incompetent – when it comes to fulfilling this most basic requirement of local government.
Apart from arranging ‘shonky’ contract(s) with a company belonging to an ex-lover of one Comrade (by the way, that company was going to RENT buses from another source and then provide those to Budapest after adding a HUGE ‘mark-up’! ), NO apparent contribution was ever made by Comrade Commissar Karácsony in this area.
The way that such (local) government business is conducted by the Mayor of Budapest and his fellow left-wing loonies is yet another example of the shameful behaviour for which these fools are renown.
